EuropaBio Most Innovative EU Biotech SME Award

EuropaBio Most Innovative Biotech SME Award 2014 aims to reward European Biotech SMEs that have developed innovative solutions to technical, social and environmental problems.

Entering its 5th year, the award has grown rapidly reaching a wide audience across Member States and is expected to once again attract a large number of applications from right across the EU.

The European Biotech SME Award is geared towards small and medium-sized companies in all areas of biotechnology: health, agriculture, and industry. It seeks to give recognition for companies that are developing innovative products and approaches to achieve that aim.

Winning the Most Innovative Biotech SME Award would entitle your company to:

• Visibility within the EU media.

• Visibility to EU policy makers and funding experts.

• A cash prize of 10.000€.

• Two years free membership of EuropaBio.

Criteria for entry

Applicants must qualify as an SME under the standard EU SME definition outlined in the European Commission 'SME User Guide' (Attached document).

The applicants will be judged on the following criteria: response to social/environmental needs, business strategy, raising capital and innovation/ ‘wow’ factor.

About SMEs at EuropaBio

EuropaBio has set up a specific SME Platform which focuses its activities on developing policy recommendations to respond to the challenges and financial constraints that biotech SMEs face in Europe, and on optimising EU and member state funding instruments for biotech SMEs.

Their SME Platform brings together European Regulators, CEOs of SMEs, National Biotech Associations, venture capitalists and private banks, European financial institutions and other interested stakeholders.
